FAFSA = Free Application for Federal Student Aid
Free Application = It is free to apply
Federal Student Aid = grant and loan (financial aid) opportunities from the federal
government
The process:
1. Create an account on Federal Student Aid website
2. Gather the necessary items
∙ Your FSA ID (You will get one when you create an account)
∙ Your Social Security Number
∙ Your Alien Registration Number (if you are not a U.S. citizen)
∙ Your driver’s license number
∙ Your federal income tax returns, w-2s, and other records of money earned
∙ Records of your assets and investments (if applicable)
∙ Records of your untaxed income
∙ List of the colleges and universities you are considering applying to
