Getting the Most Out of the Scholarship Center

The search for scholarships is a marathon, not a sprint. We encourage you to use this page with the following strategies in mind:

  • Start Early and Check Often: This page is updated regularly as new opportunities become available. The sooner you start looking, the more deadlines you will be able to meet.

  • Pay Close Attention to Deadlines: Each scholarship has a unique deadline and application process. Keep a calendar to stay organized.

  • Think Beyond Grades: While many scholarships are based on academic merit, countless others recognize leadership, community service, artistic talent, athletic ability, specific career interests, and unique life experiences. There is something out there for everyone.

  • Prepare to Tell Your Story: A strong application often requires a compelling essay, a resume of your activities, and letters of recommendation. We are here to help you prepare these materials.

What is Xello and How Does It Help Me Win Scholarships?

Think of Xello as your personal digital portfolio for everything you accomplish during your time at Ellensburg High School. It's a powerful online program, provided by EHS, designed to help you discover your strengths, explore careers, and plan for your future after graduation.

While it helps with many things, it is one of the most valuable tools you have for winning scholarships.

Our Recommendation:

We strongly encourage all students to log in to Xello regularly—at least once per semester—to update your profile. The more detailed your Xello profile is, the easier and faster the scholarship application process will be.

Think of it this way: every hour you spend keeping your Xello profile updated will save you many more hours of stress and work when scholarship deadlines are approaching.
